Patrice Evra has been named the captain of France ahead of the World Cup. Thierry Henry was the former captain but has lost his place in the starting line-up to Nicolas Anelka.

“I’m really proud to be the captain,” said Evra. “With talent you win games, but you can only win a tournament with a great team”.

He joins Rio Ferdinand, Park Ji-Sung, Nemanja Vidic and Darren Fletcher in the ranks of our players who captain their countries.
