Michael Carrick has signed a new contract with United which will keep him at the club until 2015, with the possible option of a further year. This is a rare move for the club, given that players in their 30s are usually only offered one year extensions.
Ryan Giggs was given a two year deal in 2005 but other than that, our older players aren’t given the security of longer deals.
“The club has gone through a few changes and working under David Moyes has been fantastic,” said Carrick. “I have won many trophies in my years playing here and I am looking forward to achieving more in the future.”
