Chelsea Better Than United in Europe

Roman Abramovich has got his wish! Chelsea are the top side in Europe. Unfortunately for them though, they have no trophy to show for it…

The Champions League draw will be made in Monaco on Thursday, following the final qualifying games on Wednesday. Due to Chelsea’s success in the competition over the past 5 years, they will be named as the top ranking team.

Then again, Croatia are seeded above Brazil and Argentina in World football, so rankings are actually pretty useless.

United of course will be amongst the top 8 seeds, meaning we avoid the likes of Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the group stages. However, we could find ourselves in the same group as Bayern Munich or Juventus.

At last, Chelsea have something they can celebrate about regarding the CL!. Well, as far as United is in the competition, I don't see them winning it anytime soon, cuz we'll be there to stop em!. VIVA JOHN TERRY!!! lol

I reckon with our squad this year, we have that confidence to face the top teams without altering our fluid attack minded formation like last year. Although that will be livin dangerously, as we are the team to beat now!! But we have our share of technical players who are up there with those from the top teams in Europe!!

it's not gonna be an easy road, but with the quality we have, I don't see why not!!

i'd dearly love for us to get an excting group this year. i'm sick of the predictability in the group stages. maybe a Juventus or Bayern followed by two smaller teams.

Hopefully we'll face Real Madrid at some stage this season. Firstly, we owe them a beating after the Ronaldo nonsense and their total lack of respect for United.

Secondly, we owe them for making us look shit at the Bernabeu back in 2003, and for the Old Trafford showdown in 2000.

Thirdly, maybe the only way to convince Ronnie where he SHOULD be long-term is by giving the Madristas a good hammering on the pitch and proving that we are the far superior side (we know it but Cristiano is obviously a bit of a plum.)

Not really sure who we'll avoid through the seeding but the teams I'd like us to avoid are Roma, Juventus and Lyon.

Not because I'm not confident that we'll do well against them, I just think it'd make a nice change for Chelsea or Liverpool to get a few of the tougher teams early on. Saying that, at least with Roma and Lyon we know what to expect. Teams that peopel write off, like Fenerbache for example, can throw up a few suprises.

Chelsea are at the top because they deserve to be, but really it makes no difference, as long as we are in the top 8 i dont care which order they are in.
Bayern will be strong as usual but i enjoy watching United playing the best sides in europe. This year should see a really open competition.

Who cares?

They're top-ranked because of their performances in the CL over the past 5 seasons, nothing underhanded or strange there. They've performed consistently and fair play to them, not much consolation for an empty trophy cabinet mind you.

id love an exciting draw . bring on juve or one of the spanish teams . no french teams please . we always play a boring game against them . its better to get big exciting games early on in the season to get the lads focussed .
