Manchester United have confirmed that Tahith Chong has joined Werder Bremen on a season long loan. Having signed a contract extension earlier this season, Chong moves to the Bundesliga to get more playing time. The club confirmed their interest in him earlier this month.

Two months ago, Chong talked about his excitement over playing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his hopes for getting in to the team in the future.

I’m at a club where, if you work hard, you get your opportunities. It’s all about taking those opportunities as well. I think we’ve got a manager who believes in young players. It’s an exciting time at the moment.

Chong has already been involved in pre-season training with his new club ahead of their friendly against LASK in a few days. Chong featured in both our Europa League games against LASK in the round of 16, with us winning 7-1 on aggregate.

Werder Bremen were involved in the relegation playoff this season and have secured football in the top flight for the season ahead. They drew both of their games against Heidenheim but ended up retaining their place in the Bundesliga on away goals.
