Team: Van der Sar, Evra, Brown, Evans, Rafael, Anderson, Giggs, Carrick, Fletcher, Valencia, Rooney.
Subs: Kuszczak, Neville, Fabio, Scholes, Park, Owen, Diouf.

FA Cup defeat against Leeds clearly changed the League Cup in Ferguson’s priorities, with him dumping the youngsters in favour of a strong team. Of course, there are the U-21s Rafael, Evans, Anderson and Fabio, but we’ve got an experienced side out there today.

City: Given, Richards, Zabaleta, Garrido, Kompany, Boyata, Wright-Phillips, Barry, De Jong, Tevez, Bellamy
City Subs: Taylor, Onuoha, Sylvinho, Ireland, Petrov, Robinho, Benjani.

Half time update: United boss the first half, with Ryan Giggs taking the lead for United. Antonio Valencia plays in a great ball, which Rooney manages to lift over Given to set up Giggsy with a simple tap in.

Then three minutes before half time, the incompetent Mike Dean awards a penalty for a small tug by Rafael on Bellamy outside the box. Carlos Tevez scored the penalty and after banging on for weeks about his love and respect for United and our fans, celebrated heartily. Tevez is a liar but we already knew that. You should have signed for a big club. Cunt.

City were totally outclassed and outsung for the first 45 minutes, roll on the second half…
