Hendrix,

Yes it could be (a blessing in disguise not signing anymore players). Bailly and Lindelöf will have staked their claims on starting now. Shaw played well, as did one of the few signings we did make - Fred. And then there's Pereira and Sánchez who are almost like new signings as well. Incremental growth.

Isn’t it odd how Sanchez got brought in has played poorly, but displaced Martial who was having a good run.And didn’t Sanchez play more on the right ar Arsenal?

At least you can all wake up in the morning and United will be top of the table.

When's the last time you did that ?

Agree with most of that but for me, Pogba had an 8 was really pleased with him tonight. He has had no pre season at all. I think we are gonna have the best Pogba this season.

CL16,

Yes it's a pity. But on the other hand, if we forget about wingers or wide forwards and instead have the fullbacks/wingbacks provide he width, we can play with two central forwards (be it in a 4222 or a 532).

And like I've said many times, personally I'm not yet sold on Lukaku being our main striker so that could/should leave more space open for Martial and Rashford.

Very interesting comments from Mou post match:

"It will be a difficult season for everybody, not just for us. I had my plans for many months and I find myself with the market closed in a situation I did not think I would be in. It's the last time I speak about it. It's over, the market is closed.

"That's football management. I think football is changing and managers should be called head coaches"

Aimed at Ed much?

Most teams now are appointing head coaches instead of managers. Not exactly sure why, less money smaller contracts.

It's about long term planning. Manager turnover is high and clubs don't want to leave responsibility for long term outlook in the hands of one person who may not be right for the job. It's really ironic because Jose is the archetypical short term manager and him and the like force more control from the club.

Oh i am sure it is the future. But couple it with being in a situation he didnt expect, he is shooting arrows over to Ed. All very interesting. How it will play out. I cant help but feel like this is Mous last season. Something is in the air. I think Ed now wants a head coach who will improve players. All will become apparent in time I guess

I hear you mate.. I guess when all is said and done, at the end of the day we are all still supporters!

Red_Gamble
Agree, with a full squad we can only get better and no excuses!

Zana
Long way off where we should be but things are looking on the up and very promising! It's in our hands, just don't let it slip!

CR
I do hope this isn't another false dawn or else I'll have trust issues! All kidding aside, yes we need a bit more attacking football and yes I hope we play with 2 up front and Rashford/Martial play there..

Carrick
For some reason, even if Rashford, Martial and Sanchez could play on the RW as good as they can on the left I'd still want Mata there.. such a beautifully intelligent player and helps us create alot!

Hendrix
I do hope to see José smile a lot more.. it goes towards building a positive, healthy environment which the players can only thrive in!

United Forever
I think Pogba should stay as Captain too.. he seems to thrive off responsibility.. even with France he was seen as one of the senior players along with Griezman and Lloris.. he was the leader on the pitch for them..
Also of course José cares! His ass is on the line!

I like Mata as well, he is like you said, intelligent. However it is noticeable how slow he is to chase back the fullbacks. Darmien was under a lot of pressure as both their wide man and FB were making runs at him and Mata was slow chasing.

Head coaches are the future BUT only if you have football people running the football side of the business. Not some pleb like Mr Ed.

BTW, for you younger posters (99%) MrEd was a sit com back in the 60s - 70s about a talking horse who only spoke to his owner, in our case with Ed it's more of a talking donkey.
