Matteo Darmian was subbed off in Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat after a Sunderland player ran in to him. No freekick was given.
Louis van Gaal has revealed that Darmian’s shoulder was dislocated and will now be missing for several weeks.
It is unbelievable. It is a dislocation so he will be out for several weeks. We do not have many more full-backs, not even in the [youth] system. Donald Love has played today at right-back and he did it well.
When looking at the players who could play at full-back, United are now without Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Guillermo Varela, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
