Manchester United won their third European Cup in Moscow after beating Chelsea in a penalty shoot-out.
During the first half of the game, United were the better side, but failed to put away their chances. Then just before half-time, the ball deflected off two of our players and fell to Frank Lampard. Edwin Van der Sar slipped on the turf and Lampard had the easy job of putting the ball past our fallen keeper.
After Cristiano Ronaldo saw his penalty saved by Petr Cech, the next victim to the wet turf was John Terry during the shoot-out, with his penalty coming back off the post after he slipped. In sudden death, Edwin Van der Sar saved Nicolas’ Anelka’s penalty to see United crowned Champions of Europe.
However, for some reason, Cech doesn’t believe that United really won the European Cup.
“The records will say they won the game but they didn’t really win it,” said Cech. “They just had more luck in the shootout than we had. What’s in the past is in the past. We are looking forward to the future and we hope this time it will be us who go through.”
Awwww.
