Patrice Evra has again reiterated the stance of so many of our players, claiming last year’s Champions League final defeat to Barcelona serves as huge motivation for doing well in the competition this season.
“The one thing that sticks with me most about last year was the worst moment,” Evra said. “That was the Champions League final defeat against Barcelona. That’s what has stayed with me because I’m a winner.
“Barcelona won the final because they played really well. But even so, I’m frustrated because I feel we didn’t show the real Manchester United. We were a bit too confident and sure of ourselves, and we were caught cold. True, we won the league title and the Carling Cup, but missing out on winning the Champions League again had the most impact on me. That bad moment affected me more than any other moment from last season.”
