The press are reporting that Alou Diarra will be named captain of France’s crucial qualifier against South Africa today, following the removal of Patrice Evra from the first team.

The Bordeaux midfielder will become Raymond Domenech’s third captain over the past couple of weeks, with Thierry Henry losing the armband to Evra at the beginning of the tournament.

However, the national pennant for tonight’s game was today pictured with Evra’s shirt in the dressing room.
