Sir Alex Ferguson had been approached to manage the 2012 British Football Olympic Team. Given that he will almost certainly have retired from the United job by then, the rumours that he wouldn’t be able to resist the challenge of the Olympics.

However, our manager has today confirmed that once he has finished with United, he is finished with football management.

“No I won’t turn to international management,” Ferguson said. “When I’ve finished here, I think I deserve a rest. After here, I’m finished.”
