As RoM reported in the week, Sir Alex Ferguson is obviously having a hard time convincing Paul Scholes to sign a contract extension for next season.

The manager has revealed that if he can’t get him to stay as a player, he hopes he will stay as a coach.

“I want Scholes to stay, but he is such a proud person,” said Ferguson. “He wants to play in every game and I fully understand that. But if we can get him to buy into the way I have been using him, sparing him in some games and using him in important matches, then he is of fantastic value to us. Paul has a place on the staff here when he retires and everybody at United wants him to stay on.”
