Sir Alex Ferguson has pinpointed the come back against West Ham as the day he felt like United were going to win the league.

After being 2-0 down at half-time, United went on to score 4 second half goals to win the game.

“It was probably the West Ham game,” said Ferguson. “We were 2-0 down at half-time and that put the shits up a lot of them – me included. This team never gives in, which is a great quality to have. Sometimes, away from home this season, you’d say to yourself ‘bloody hell’. But our home form has been absolutely brilliant and that’s what has won us the title. Our away form is normally much, much better, but we’ve been protected by our form at Old Trafford. I think you have to look at the league and realise just how strong it is. We’ve lost points to West Brom, Wolves, Aston Villa, Bolton, Sunderland and Newcastle – all these teams in the middle of the league. So it’s not fair to say this is a bad Manchester United team or a bad league. This is a hard league to win.”
