Sir Alex Ferguson has made a trip to Qatar this week whilst his players are involved in an International friendly. Qatar is hoping to host the 2022 World Cup and our manager has given his support.

“I would back the Qatar bid,” Ferguson said. “I admire their purpose and vision.”

Of course, he’s hardly going to speak of the country in negative terms whilst enjoying himself over there, is he?

Sadly, Ferguson exposed his ignorance this time last year when asked his opinion of England’s friendly trip to, you guessed it, Qatar. He referred to it as “some unknown country” before blasting the decision for mid-season friendlies and claimed the FA organised it simply to have a “nice trip on a sunny day”.

So, have you had a nice trip on a sunny day, Fergie?
