Sir Alex Ferguson has had ‘FA charge’ written all over him for the past few weeks, following the criticism he’s been levelling at officials. Whether he’s wrong or right, the simple fact is you cannot have a go at refereeing decisions. Just ask Roy Keane, who got sent to the stands and later charged for contesting Nicolas Anelka’s offside goal last weekend. The fact the goal was offside matters little. Keith Hackett’s men are untouchable and if a manager dares to speak out about them, they’ll find a letter from the FA on their doormat… just as Ferguson has done. He still can’t resist getting a dig in though.
“I have no reaction because I have not read the charge yet,” said Ferguson. “I am a bit surprised. But this is the FA. They were probably dying to send me a letter.”
