After turning on the water works in Moscow, not supporting a single of his team mates following the penalty shoot out defeat in the European Cup final, Fabio Capello made the bizarre decision of giving John Terry the captain’s armband for England. Maybe it was out of sympathy? Maybe it was out of pity? Who knows?
Here are some of the articles written on RoM around the time of that silly decision: The Self Sacrifice of Rio Ferdinand, The Perfect Captain – Terry Better Than Rio?, Support for Rio, and Giggs thought Rio should have got it.
Some sanity has been restored in the England set up though, with Terry finally paying the price for generally just not being a nice guy. After cheating on his wife and mother of his children countless times, someone has finally kicked Terry out on his arse (and it’s not his wife, who has taken him back!). Turns out that some people do still value their morals in football, even if the Chelsea fans cooing over him don’t, with Capello deciding that shagging the mother of a friend and team mate’s child is unacceptable behaviour.
Well done Capello! Well done Rio! Boo hoo Terry.
