Omari Forson took place in his first pre-season tour at Manchester United this summer, playing in five of the eight matches.
Forson joined United as a 14-year-old from Tottenham Hotspur’s academy and turned down interest from Arsenal to stay with United and sign a scholarship deal.
Speaking to MUTV, Forson has reflected on his first tour.
It’s crazy, something I haven’t experienced before. It’s been a really good experience going over to these countries.
I’ve learned so much – good habits on and off the pitch – and I’ve really enjoyed my time since the start of pre-season. There’s a lot to learn – you’ve got to keep learning. The learning never stops, especially because I’m young.
Forson was subbed before half-time in our game against Borussia Dortmund in the USA after being involved in a spat with Karim Adeyemi which resulted in a yellow card. Erik ten Hag took the youngster off to ensure the situation didn’t escalate. But Forson played again against Athletic Club in Dublin, with Facundo Pellistri scoring a very late equaliser.
I enjoyed the game, I thought we dominated them throughout. The goal was always going to come and we were really happy to get the equaliser. It was a really good finish – I thought [Pellistri] was going to go with his head so that was a hard finish. He did really well.
