A Manchester United club statement has today revealed that former captain and current ambassador, Bryan Robson, has throat cancer.

“Bryan Robson underwent an operation to remove a tumour from his throat on March 3, 2011 in a hospital in Bangkok. The laboratory report revealed a cancerous tumour, which will need further treatment. The oncologist is confident that the condition is treatable.”

Robson is currently in Thailand as coach of the national team.

Gary Pallister, standing in for Robbo in his column, said our former captain is famed for going into challenges head on and he’ll be no different here.

Robson was recently at the Masters Asia tour with David May and others from MUTV. He played for the United Legends team and was also commentating. He appeared fit and healthy and hadn’t let on to anyone about his condition.

Get well soon Captain Marvel.
