Ahead of Sunday’s game against Liverpool, Ryan Giggs has confirmed that beating Liverpool’s title record, after equalling it last season, serves as motivation to win the league this year.

“We are trying to win the league this year and whatever records you break or whatever things you do in history comes after,” said Giggs. “But as a United fan, for me it (surpassing Liverpool) comes into it because I grew up seeing Liverpool win everything. At the moment, though, we want to win the game on Sunday to try and help us win the league. It’s a massive game, purely because it is Liverpool, and it is towards the end of the season so there is so much riding on it.”
