Dream on.

After...Fergusson admitted it wasnt a penalty...and even Howard "Manc Fan" Webb admitted he "made a mistake"...and now a 35 year old who made only 12 starts for the club wins the PFA?

Its all just laughable. Bring on Giggs...Hope you dont hurt yourself when you face us old man...you arent as quick as u used to be...what u going to do?

It was a very odd, and rather spineless admission by Webb that he got it wrong, because it's on the basis that Gomes touched the ball first. He says at the time he gave the pen he thought Carrick touched it away first, but he has now changed his mind after seeing the replay. Why that's odd, and why it suggests he's caving in to the massive ABU media hype, is because the replays clearly show Carrick DID touch it first. You may still think it wasn't a penalty, but not on the basis that Webb now puts forward.Really he loses respect all round for poor judgement and weakness. Where the ABU pressure works , as it did in the Carling Cup Final and the FA Cup semi final this season (and the 6th round last year) is to reinforce the myth that United get all the lucky breaks and that refs are all biased in United's favour, obliging them to prove them to prove otherwise or else face the media onslaught. It will certainly make the run-in more difficult for United this year. We need to use every opening we can to challenge the myth and hit back.

david, during the course of a season these decisions tend to even themselves out. For instance a stone wall pen against everton in the cup was turned down, against pompey last season in the cup, ronaldo should have had a nailed on pen but arry! and the hacks in the gutter press failed to mention this! The fact is spurs were 2-1 up after that "disgraceful" decision so its their own stupid fault if they cant defend a lead! We were immense in that second half and if that pen hadnt been given i still think we'd have eventually won! Tevez totally changed the game and they couldnt live with us! simple as that! secondly, giggsy totally deserves that award! he's been immense this season and to be honest, i'm baffled he hasnt won it 2 or 3 times before this one! no player deserves it more! Fuckin legend! oh and by the way, you'll find out wednesday exactly what our number 11 is going to do!:-)

All of this hype about that penalty isn't doing us any favours. We go to Middlesbrough where they traditionally kick us put of the park. The last thing we will need is a referee who will be afraid to protect us.

couldn't give a flying fuck about Webb at the end of the day we would have beat them anyway as anyone can see we were by far the better team on the day even in the first half admittedly they got the better by scoring twicwe but after the defence had lost theid stamina by the constsnt speed of our front four's interplay the result was never in question ...... well ot afterthe 4th went in

david, during the course of a season these decisions tend to even themselves out.

===============================

That is the most bullshyte statement i have ever heard. Regurgitated jargon. Fergie says Riley didnt give Welbeck a penalty...laughable seeing as Riley is most famous for pulling a howard webb.

Giggs is legend yes..but to give him the PFA after only 12 appearances for the club...

Talking out of youre Manc Arse that is.

David - the only controversial penalty Riley has ever awarded us was against Arsenal. Then two minutes later Ashley Cole brought down Ronaldo in the area and nothing was given. It was evened out.

Claiming that Riley favours United with penalty decisions is "regurgitated jargon". Why not form your own opinion instead of believing everything shitty tabloids tell you?

Webb had everything to do with your win...EVERYTHING....more yellow cards to the spuds...that Rafeal boy kept hacking away at everything in sight and didnt even get a look....this is funny coming from u Mancs...the FA are a big joke...a place where Contana can scissors kick someone with studs showing and not get red carded...hahahaha....JOKE!

Riley is a Manchester United Fan.

Fact.

I feel rather silly trying to debate that. There's no need really.

David - You're not debating anything. You're just spouting off nonsense and not supporting it with anything. I backed up by opinion that Riley does not favour United with a fact. What are you backing your opinion with? Nothing.

Anyway, you're starting to sound a bit mental now. Cheerio.

Arsenal sure as piss didnt have the "odd decision" go their way last season that "handed them the tittle" like Webb just did.

Congrats...

but Manc + Refs = Tittle. Every Single time.

All this ABU's will always try to find excuses for the own failings.
no matter what.
i have never thought that some debatable decisions will be the source for the mental battles in England. try to put on glasses and think for a moment who plays the best football in games.
and of course there's no need to argue with losers who don't even try to hear documented arguments.
push the restart button. who knows, sometimes it helps.

Contana scissors kicked someone studs showing...no red card.

Fact.

Giggs...should never have been close to the PFA.

Fact.

So you disagree with me Calling riley a Manc fan..and resort to calling me names like "mental"...hahaha....Too many times...Untd are award dubious penalties...all the decisions...go ure way...

Spuds got straight yellows for soft fouls...Ronaldo had to take his shirt off...Scholes had to body slam somebody....and ure right..Im embarrassing myself coming on here...because nobody can see through their "red lens"

I'm not name calling David, I'm making an observation. You're coming across as weird, referring to a single incident which happened over 10 years ago, complaining about an award Giggs won which is voted for by the PLAYERS, calling Riley a United fan but having NO evidence to back that up with, despite being asked several times.

I'm glad you can see you're embarrassing yourself though. Fairly good entertainment, if not a little odd. Bye then.

"Man Utd 5 Spurs 2: The moment that Webb handed the title to United"

this makes the source non-existent for me.

"In awarding United a penalty 12 minutes into the second half, he offered them a lifeline on a day when they had hitherto performed miserably and so transformed the game. And what a wretched decision it was, too. One of the worst."

great sourse and ridiculous piece of journalism. who they think they are ?

David - I don't really get your logic. Because we find you odd, that means we had rough childhoods? I don't really get it. Obsessively posting on a blog for a rival team is weird. I'm not name calling, I'm just saying it as I see it.

Using some biased article from The Daily Mail doesn't really prove anything does it? I mean, you're not honestly suggesting Manchester United are the only team to get penalties they don't deserve, are you? Seriously?

1. I posted 2 links.

2. If you dont find the daily mail a reliably source kindly click on the guardian'

3. I came on here to see if any of you lot agree it was a poor decision and sure enough from what i read even after the ref admitted and fergie admitted it was a mistake its fair to say the concensus believe it was a good call. No suprise there.

4. Obsessive posting? Ok..should i not respond when someone calls me a dickhead?

5. I never suggested manchester united are the only team to get the most penalties....Never..When did you read me say that???

6. Finaly. Riley is a Manc fan. Fact. Or dont read the facts who cares...you asked for evidence and now ure trying to "discredit" the source(s) as biased? And YOU are not?

Clowns. Im off for real this time.

I really am happy for Giggs, but after all these years with outstanding football, he should have got it some years back not this year. It just seem like everybody feels sorry for him getting old and all, Giggs doesnt deserve that attitude against him....How the list SHOULD look like (from a totally neutral point of view)

1. Stevie Me

2. Ferdinand

3. Vidic

4. Xabi Alonso

5. Fat Lampard

6. Lennon

I wish Giggs all the best, but this award is just based on feelings on seasonal performances...

Why the fuck are people laying in to the fact that Giggs won an award? You bunch of morons do realise that it was probably your favourite players who voted for him in the first place right?

United players, United staff and the common United supporter had 0% input in to the PFA Awards, so why do you all find it acceptable to have a go?

The small fact that United had 8 players in the overall team speaks volumes and not forgetting the point that these votes are made in January or so... covering the year since the votes the previous year, meaning United won a Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Club World Cup since...

I assumed Vidic or Gerrard would win it, Vidic's decision would speak for itself and Gerrard based on the idea that he's the only non-united player in the short list... we all know what happened last time we had that situation...

Why anyone would go out of their way to slate Giggs after all he did in the game and is still playing is beyond me. He's a true professional and doesn't have an ounce of arrogance in him.

Giggs may have started few this term but he has had a huge impact and is the only player in the Premier League who has the right to be called a Legend.

A true Legend.
