As was mentioned at the time, the only good thing to come from Liverpool’s brilliant week was the likelihood Rafael Benitez would be offered a contract that was too good to turn down.

It has happened. Benitez is contracted with Liverpool until 2014. Following two seasons where Liverpool have won nothing, alongside their continued failure to even break in to the top two, let alone win the league, the manager who approaches most games trying to avoid losing rather than trying to win, will be at our hated rivals for at least another five years! Roll on the Rafalution!
