Arsene Wenger reckons Manuel Almunia will be missing for both of our Champions League games, meaning Fabianski is set to fill in. Reports had suggested that he was ready to make a come-back but Wenger has denied there is any truth to that.

For those of you who watched the other semi-final at the weekend, you’ll see just what a bonus this could be!

“I don’t think Almunia will be fit for the second leg,” said Wenger. “I will have to see how he improves. He is practising a bit again but we have to assess the situation for one week maybe.”

Was it a one off?

I haven’t seen much of the lad other than his inept display on Saturday, but his past statistics aren’t great. The dreadful Derby County scored in just 15 of their 38 games last season and two of them came on Fabianski’s watch.

He came on for ten minutes against us in our 2-1 defeat at the Emirates this season, just in time for Rafael da Silva to score.

Regardless, following his howler in the semi, on top of his already jittery performance, our fans will hopefully be able to get him on edge in a game of such magnitude.
