Merry Christmas guys!

Just had a thought on the possible return of Ronaldo (wishful thinking I know!).

Once a player has been contracted for 3 years can that player not buy himself out of his current deal by paying off the remainder of his contract. This may be shite I'm not sure but I remember reading something like this quite a while ago now. They want £120m but Ronaldo can force him self out for £250000 x 104 (weeks in 2 years).

This is all probably wrong but £26m is pretty good value for money if it isn't.

For Ronaldo to happen, there'll have to be a massive compromise from all parties involved and I dont think that will happen

Andooo - if ronaldo is serious about returning, and if 80 million plus was saved just to buy him back, ronaldo will have to take that paycut, and not only get to rooney and RP's level, the wages are not the problem, its the transfer fee. And that is what will see it almost impossible to buy him, but I cannot see united spending that much on a player coming up to 28

I'm dreaming of a Red Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the trophies glisten and we all listen
To happy chanting in the snow

I'm dreaming of a Red Christmas
Every time I go to bed
May our days be merry and bright
And may all our Christmas's be Red

@fergie is the boss

I disagree. The transfer fee itself wouldn't be a major issue. After all its highly unusual for a club to do what Real did and pay a flat fee all upfront so the likelyhood is any fee would have performance conditions and would see payment staggered. Additionally as far as the accounts are concerned even paying upfront sees the value spread over the length of the contract.

Wages on the other hand are vital for financial stability as they are regular costs rather than exceptional costs. Ad the club has always stuck to its 50% of turnover which even if he ended up on Rooneys wage may prove an issue (and if he is no more even more issues as it may see other players demanding more)

I suspect it would be more Fergies principles if the fee was a stumbling block (if Real aren't being completely crazy with the amount they look for) but Fergie has said before Ronaldos the only player he would pay silly money for
