Something that shows how much stronger Manchester United’s squad is this season is the fact Ander Herrera can barely get a look in. In the opening three games of the season, Herrera has played just five minutes of football, which came in our 4-0 away win against Swansea.

Last season, Herrera proved himself to be one of United’s most important players, but the arrival of Nemanja Matic and the competition for places further ahead on the pitch has meant that Herrera has been unable to get in to the team.

Following our 2-0 win over Leicester on Saturday, Jose Mourinho has sung the praises of Herrera though, revealing the player was shouting instructions and encouragement to his teammates. United have scored four goals thanks to players from the bench but Mourinho reckons even the players who don’t come on make their impact, as Herrera has shown.

I’m happy for them – all of them working hard, trying to be in the line-up. They are on the bench, they get one minute on the pitch and ready to give everything. I saw Herrera on the bench, screaming, speaking, helping players and he wasn’t on the pitch. This is the group we have and the team we have.
