Dimitar Berbatov was named Man of the Match in Bulgaria’s 4-1 win over Montenegro at the weekend, after scoring a pen and assisting other goals.

His country take on Marcello Lippi’s Italy tonight in a World Cup qualifier and the Italian coach is on the look-out for Berbatov, who ran his defence ragged in their last meeting which finished 0-0.

“Berbatov plays for a big club and his quality is clear at Manchester United,” said Lippi. “He has real technique, knows how to score and create goals too. It took all our defence to stop him the last time we met.”

Italy currently the top the group whilst Bulgaria are third behind the Republic of Ireland, who have played a game more than Berbatov and co.
