Andreas Pereira has been named Manchester United’s U-21 player of the year after winning the Denzil Haroun trophy at last night’s awards.

Pereira recently committed his future to the club, after interest from abroad, and is currently away with Brazil’s Under-20 squad, but recorded a message to be shown.

I want to thank first of all the fans who voted for me. I want to thank all the coaches and the staff who helped me and I want to thank Warren [Joyce] and all the reserve team because they were very important for me to win this trophy. I congratulate them as well on winning the Under-21s league. I’m very honoured to win this trophy and hopefully I can do well next season. Thank you.

Adnan Januzaj won this award the season before last and has praised the young Brazilian.

I think he just has to work hard and when the chance comes to him then he should take it. Andreas is a very good player, he has a lot of good qualities and I think he can be a great player for United.
