Following the Europa League final in Stockholm, Phil Jones and Daley Blind were asked to take part in a random drugs test.

The doping official claims that Jones was abusive and Blind was reluctant to submit a sample. Jones hadn’t even played in the game, named on the bench but was unused, while Blind did start but wanted to continue the celebrations.

However, as a result of Jones’ behaviour, he has now been handed a two match ban from UEFA and will miss next week’s Super Cup final against Real Madrid as a result.

United were fined £8,900, while defender Jones was fined £4,450.

His team-mate Daley Blind was also charged with an anti-doping rules violation, but was only fined £4,450.

Jones was apparently annoyed that the timing of the test meant he was unable to pose with the team holding a banner paying respects to those who lost their lives in the terror attack in Manchester.
