After days of speculation, it has been confirmed this evening that Warren Joyce is leaving his post as Manchester United Reserves coach to become manager of Wigan.
This ends an eight year association with the club, after Joyce shared the role with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before taking the job on by himself two years later.
Joyce’s reign finished with an injury-time title win last season, having won 13 trophies with the U-21s previously, with three league wins in four years.
He has signed a three-and-a-half year contract at Wigan and will take charge of his new team against Jaap Stam’s Reading on Saturday.
