Taking in to consideration the 5,700 travelling Liverpool fans, there were just 30,317 City fans in the ground tonight to watch their team in the League Cup semi-final.

The tickets were originally on sale at £35 for adults, £15 for 16-21s and £5 for children, although over the past few days they have been trying to flog them for a tenner at local colleges and the university, as well as giving them away for free at local schools.

Tonight is just the latest example in a long list which makes a mockery out of the City claim that Manchester is blue.

Interestingly enough, there were 10,000 more people in the ground two years ago for their last League Cup semi. Unless they’re playing Man United, the council house is never full.
