Manchester United ended Roy Keane’s contract in 2005 after he went on MUTV and was critical of the players.

It had been previously reported that he had training ground falling outs with then assistant manager Carlos Queiroz. It started at a training camp in the Algarve in the summer. Queiroz questioned Keane’s commitment, to which he reminded him that he had only just returned to the club after leaving United for the bright lights of Real Madrid.

Working in his role as pundit for ITV, Keane has revealed he regrets not laying in to Queiroz, now the manager of Iran, that summer.

Towards the end of my time at United, I found him really disrespectful to me so we had a bit of a fall out. He questioned my loyalty so I told him where to go. One of my big regrets is I didn’t rip his head off.
