When it was announced that Manchester United were signing former Celtic and Barcelona star, Henrik Larsson, on a three-month loan, there were a few raised eyebrows. Well in to his 30’s and playing in his native Sweden, Larsson joined United to aid our Championship fight.
In his time at the club, Larsson scored for us in the league, Champions League and FA Cup, with his loan looking like an inspired move from our manager. Whilst eager to cling on to him after he had gelled with the team so quickly and effectively, Larsson was good for his word and returned to Helsingborgs.
Ahead of United’s Champions League clash with Celtic, Larsson has spoken about his two former clubs, claiming we can beat anyone and could go on to claim the Champions League title again this season.
“Everybody knows that my first club is Celtic, but I loved my time at United and I hope both teams get through to the next round,” said Larsson. “It’s harder to win the trophy again, everyone wants to beat you. But United can beat anyone and have every chance of winning it.”
