Henrik Larsson spent two months on loan at Manchester United during the 2006-07 season and helped us win the league.
The Swede has claimed in an interview with FourFourTwo that only staying for a short time and not staying until the end of the season, and another one after that, is the only thing he regrets about his career.
Yes, that’s the only regret I have in my career. I should’ve stayed, as it would have meant I got a Premier League winner’s medal, and I would have stayed for one more season. But I still had a contract with Helsingborgs and I feel that when you sign a contract, you have to see it out.
Everything was professional at United. When I had to attend a christening for my brother’s children, the club ordered a plane to take me there after a match. United really take care of all their players.
In 2002 World Cup, Larsson played alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Swedish team and has reflected on what sort of player he was then.
He was more naïve at the time, but still a great personality. He had the skills but he didn’t have all the bits in place. Back then I was asked how good he could be and I said it was up to him, as he had everything. Now he’s one of the world’s best strikers, and has been for years.
