First of all I would like to say that today is a day to remember the Busby Babes, may they rest in peace.
Football is a passionate game and can bring rivalrys to breaking point. But it's times like theses that we need to show respect and support to those GREAT players that lost there lives so tragically.
Being a Liverpool Supporter i leave familys of the lost ones and Manchester United Supporters my heart felt support.
Least we forget . YNWA

As long as that spirit, the one shown yesterday, is alive and kicking - Manchester United will never die.

February the 6th was never the end for United and what we lost is still hard to bear years and generations down.

It was the beginning and the making of us.

Sometimes memories are the only things not to just hold onto but to inspire. We never lose we just run out of time. So like always we'll stand up and go again.

You cannot teach this you either believe it or you simply don't.

My late father watched them live and even met Duncan Edwards, some of the stories he told me while growing up still bring a tear to my eye.

What an honor seeing you posting here with your usual inspirational words. I have missed you my friend but more importantly I hope the Mrs is coping well. Take care

The Big Red

When my dad met Duncan it was after a match, a chance meeting. Footballers back then were very humble of course so to start a conversation was very normal. My dad was twice Duncan's age at the time yet he told me that he felt like a child when speaking to him! Duncan was only 19 at the time yet he made my old man feel like a kid. He was immense, built like a brick wall and spoke way beyond his years. The conversation was merely about the love for United that they both shared. My dad asked him about his favorite position and Duncan said ' I really do not know, I feel I can play anywhere' ! Such was the gem of a man

RIP

RIP - their memories will live on forever in the collective consciousness of all that is United.
I've never had the fortune to live that era or see them in action. But I can only feel it in my heart. Respect to those players, godbless to their near and dear ones.

Answer would be no. In his opinion at least the Babes were the best 11 to ever grace a football field

Days like today still bring a tear to my eye. I may be a grown man but I am not ashamed to shed a tear. That dark day back in 58 brought a tragic end to what may have been the best football side to ever play the game.....

RIP Babes, I love you and God only knows how much I love United

A comeback like the one at the bridge, a legacy like the one by the Babes.. do I need any other reason to be a United supporter? I was thirty years late to the last days of the Babes walking this planet, but never will a memory be more alive in my heart!! Love this club!! Rest in peace lads! Without your image, "forever young" doesn't mean a thing.

First off, nice one MR at 8.56? A Liverpool fan with some common decency. Much appreciated from every United fan on here.

Though it's now 54 years since this disaster, the United family still find it hard to take. A near full team wiped put. And while Sir Matt survived, a part of him died that day too. Still a remarkable feat to lead United 10 years later to the European win at Wembley. Not just United lost something, the whole of Manchester lost something at Munich. A bloody disgrace this day, that scum from various clubs use this disaster to get one over United fans. Shame on you. And for United fans retorting by singing about Hillsborough, you don't speak for me. We'll never forget. The flowers of Manchester. RIP The Busby Babes. 1958 remembered.....

Took another read at the Wikipedia article describing the whole disaster, and it really was a series of unfortunate events. They could've been well and fine. But that could mean United going on to achieve a stranglehold on the League, and Liverpool being the ones who got Sir Alex who will go on to knock Man Utd off the perch. *Gasp*

Just been down to OT to put some flowers on the memorial; thought there'd be a few more on it to be honest. Lads did them proud yesterday; the same 3-3 scoreline as the final game of the Busby Babes.

This was before my time but it was still a horrific tragedy, not just for you lot but for football in general.

The fans of Leeds, Liverpool, City or anyone who sing and joke about it are a disgrace to their clubs but thankfully are a minority outnumbered by the decent fans (and there are decent Leeds, Liverpool and City fans, would you believe it!)

Events like this are bigger than football rivalry and the story is very sad.

RIP

Willerednut's great 12:22 post says it all for me.

Lets be sure that Munich will always set the supporters of this great club apart. We have their legacy to protect and we must never desend to the level of those who would try to disparage it.
