Chelsea lose 2-1, would have been excellent for us to go top tonight with a win but still an excellent performance from the lads. Villa are a joke, even we had been 11 v 11, we would have steamrolled them! Way to go again, dumb ref!

Just seen Sahas goals.

You know what, ive always rated him. He would have been world class for us if he hadnt have had all them injuries!

I remember rio ferdinand saying to be honest he found playing against saha as one of the most hardest as he was so good!

Shame eh!

@Red Dave

Which is why. The most negative team. They had no desire to win and if they win it's almost by luck! They play so negative at home and away. No fun in watching.

Guys, I am upset because this was a glorious chance to go top. But looking at what transpired, the fact that the lead is cut back to a point is the best we could hope for. Now, even with a draw at Goodison, the title will be in range.

What was unfortunate was that we didn't score while we were on top. We run out of steam after that.

I've said for a long time that a fit Louis Saha is the striker that we have been missing.

Part of me is disappointed because of the lost opportunity - 11 v. 11 we would have thrashed villa, they were absolutely gutless and dreadful. Having said that, if someone had told me we would cut the lead on top of the table today I wouldn't bitten his hand off. All in all, day could have been better, but it wasn't too bad.

I think we will miss Nani though - when Valencia came one I could clearly see what we miss without Nani in the form that he is. I was constantly begging Valencia to run at the defender and take him on - he's just that fraction of a second slow in decision making and that takes away a lot of the threat he can ideally pose. With Nani playing like he was recently I would have wanted him available all the time for the rest of the season.

Also, having watched today's game I have to say Arsene Wenger was spot on in his description of this villa team - they are pathetic!

F**ckin' A+++. well done the Toffees! This is the first of three games the scum are gonna lose in the NW in the next few months! Inch - by inch we're gonna haul in the Inter - City mob and drown them in their own badness!

United will prevail - the best-run, the best players, the only team in the league that plays proper football! Nani is a casualty of war in the battle with officaldom - if you don't complain - nothing will change!

Say it again - say it proud - United & Proud!

no question it was a red card no one can deny that it was reckless and quiet frankly stupid from nani. I was a bit busy tonight I could not catch the game but I did not know nani was sent off I was going to say 2 pts dropped. but when we were down to 10 men after 28 minutes it was a pt gained good result bring on everton the tough result gone, even though the toffees are gonna be just has tough but a pt closer it has eased the tention for me.

Predicted before that it would be 1-1. Pathetic Villa. Even with 11 vs 10 they get outplayed.Not a bad result though.

Thanks to Everton and Saha. Embarrassed john terry twice for both his goals, well done Louis.Not getting too excited because we have to go to Goodison next weekend and it will be very difficult to get a result there while Chelsea play Portsmouth.

It's hard to beleive that Villa are in the position they are in, they were pathetic at OT (but somehow got a breakaway goal), and offered nothing tonight in attack... if they somehow get in the Champions League it will be a tragedy for the premier league!

But we controlled it so well with 10 men, apart from my man Nani having a moment of craziness, I can't find fault with any of our players today. Carrick and Fletcher are phenomenal in this 3 man midfield, lets hope they stay fit

To top the night off - the scousers burst their bubble at Arsenal - hey Rafa, did you not see us at the Emirates last week? All you had to do is copy the formula and you would have had them! I guess your big, stupid Spanish Ego wouldn't let ya!

United for the title!

@AIG

Agreed. I don't often knock on our competition, but Villa were pathetic. People might say that we scored an OG, but the goal they scored was another gift from our defence. Evans was nowhere near Cuellar as he should have. It's just si frustrating you know? When are we going to get above the cunts? Something always happens.

And now we go to Goodison without 3 players. Rio(as a result of making out with the FA), Nani(as a result of his recklessness) and Vidic(as a result of a knee injury that should have healed a month ago).

How has this team won at OT, the Emirates and Anfield over the last 15 months? This is the first time we haven't beat them in the league in 13 years. I really pray we batter them at Wembley.

Costas - simple the top sides have been below par simple has that. the strike force of all the top sides are thread bear and I will give united the benifit of the doubt today but I justify my comments that we are short of another striker.

@costas

after everton we only have city as a tricky away game.rest like chelsea,liverpool,spurs are at home while chelsea have city and villa at home but travel to united,liverpool and spurs

the gap at the top will fluctuate.hope we are top when it matters although the injuries and nanis red have made things a lot harder

and arsenal arent out of it.they only have city home and spurs away.

In an ideal world, the man who did in Terry and Chelsea tonight would still be playing for us. He was the missing piece to the puzzle. Anyway, I had faith is us getting a second. But when Ryan got injured, we lost our counter attacks and that was that.

arsene wenger - I agree there and congrats tonight on a massive win I bet ballack is feeling stupid being so cocky when his chelsea have won nowt. you guys can still win the league because of your run in because united and especially chelsea are not unstoppable. how bad are liverpool also its hilerious.

I think Chelsea had a slightly easier schedule. It could come down to our clash at OT with them. We really have to win at Everton.

if only we didnt lose a 2 goal lead to west ham and miss 5 sitters in a 1-0 defeat to sunderland, you dont need to win the big games but they are even harder to win when you need to win them, tonights results are like a present to us, you lot could do with saha , a lot of arsenal fans were hopin we would go for him in january as well

arsene wenger * any striker on a bit of form united could do with, because you know my feelings on berbatov not the fit for united and owen never really plays united are short of a CF anyone, diouf why dont fergie give him a chance since berbatov has blown it he can be like saha.

Man United is just more demanding as a club. More fixtures and probably tougher training sessions. I can't imagine that Saha finally became a beast that can't get injured!

aig the funniest thing, i didnt think we really deserved to win tonight but at the same time i dont thinkliverpool deserved much for the way they played either, thank god for diaby, now we can go to porto feeling a bit happier

RTNK i understand you fully on the berbatov situation, its the most frustrating case because he is clearly a talented player, i do think that berbatov is well suited to nothing football at tottenham hotspur because he likes a flick and a caress of the ball a bit too much, a good goal scorer would be great for both our teams but they are few and far between at the minute as well

costas your right saha is a cotton wool man, you have to skip training 4 days a week and play him the way spurs play ledley king but i dont think united would bring a striker like that into the team while they have young strikers training fully daily

hey all....a bit off topic but wanted u to see the mentality of liverpool fans............

Fuck you Mancheater fans. Liverpool will win Europa League. We will qualify for the next year's Europa as well. Not a chance in hell to finish below 8th. Mancheaters will never win Europa League.

hahahahaaa.......they have just put there swords down at our feet.......

arsene wenger - what makes me laugh is liverpool are possibly the slowest side you have had in a while. what a drop in quality from the fast counter attacking pace of united to the ugly sluggish football liverpool cooked up.

Costas - maybe the sessions should have unique regimes for certain players so they dont get injured you always have to be flexible for some players.

arsene wenger - I hate tevez like most united fans but love him or hate him united had that player that is needed that never say die always up for the big games, and when the going gets tough and the chips are down he comes up with the goods. I still will never understand why fergie thought paying 30 million for an ageing slow forward who likes to play nothing forward whos tempertment is alot to be desired and decided hey lets not pay for a forward younger better movement and will cost 5 million less.

aig @ 23:33: "and arsenal arent out of it.they only have city home and spurs away."

Amazing but true - TheArse get reamed (royally) and yet they now have the easiest run-in and we all know that they are flat-track bullies.

i think fergie thought berbatov was a great player but he likes to be the main attraction, i think at united he is just one of the boys where as at spurs he was jesus, its all in the players head

arsene wenger - I am not gonna point fingers it was a great pt. but I brought the berbatov thing up because uniteds shortage of strikers beyond rooney all the top sides are when we had a CF who is better fergie just got that wrong he bought the wrong striker. arsenals run in looks straight forward you confident you will win it now what a present but uniteds result was a pt gained because of the red card.

arsene wenger February 11, 2010
lol RTNK im not confident we can win it, the only way we can be champions is if BOTH united and chelsea lose it, weve lost the title before and and youve lost it, but i cant see it happening this season, we will still find stoke away tough and probably also hull away they will want a war, in our position you cant win the title only hope someone loses it, id agree after the red card that was a good point, its a point gained rather than two dropped
