But like I said the irony is this is a good result for united, but I knew it we are struggling away from home

@willierednut

At half time it didn't look like a point gained. On the final whistle, it did. I don't know what it will be good for. EVen with yesterday's defeat, Chelsea are +5 compared to the same 6 fixtures last year. With this result, we have the same points as last season.

The defensive issues are clear for everyone to see, but United fans are blowing things way out of proportion here. In the grand scheme of things we are 3 points behind Chelsea with 6 games played and had the tougher fixtures on paper. The defensive issues will be sorted out. Evans is out of form, he isn't a bad player. We have scored 3 in all our games bar 2 in which we grabbed 2 in them. Our general quality of football has been good apart from the Rangers game. The reaction on here after this game in which we battled back twice and could have easily lost is quite ridiculous.

On another point, I don't understand the critisism towards Park. Petrov beat him in the 2nd goal, just like he would have done everyone who isn't a defender. Park actually saved us on a few occasions towards the end. He wasn't that worse than say...Fletcher.

Gary - will the defence be sorted I think we will be relying on our attack like 01/02 season.

does anyone else see this defence getting themselves sorted out, because I do not see us keeping any clean sheets away from home this season.

I would rather say that there is" no value in our squad"

I agree with you...fletcher had a lousy game. The 2nd goal cannoned off him to put the icing on the cake...he was lost in midfield...slow to react to any situation or passes from his teammates...in other words, to me, he was just out of sorts!!

There's always an over reaction when we don't win, but today we gained a point, simple as that.

I agree with you, that's what I've been saying.
Park was okay especially if you consider him playing off position. When we went with 3 strikers, he was pretty much in a limbo.. he had to cover for Scholes (esp when Bolton did a counter) and he had to help the team moving forward. I think he was okay tonight. Scholes on the other hand wasn't very impressive.. I saw a few times where he could and should have passed the ball to Nani and Berba who were completely free but did not. I'm the biggest Scholes fan (always have his name on my jersey every year), but I think we should play and nurture Anderson and have him as the back up.

willierednut - I said that even though our defence has cost us another 3 pts and more pts will be lost because allot of the time we cannot defend

samuel - united WE stand September 26, 2010
@Gary - i cant see how you can possibly take any positives from this game, even if we had won, i'd have criticised that diabolical back line, we're leaking goals like there is no tomorrow, giving fouls away at dangerous positions, giving teams momentum and confidence to attack us.

o'shea should never be a starter at united, he is approaching 30 now and has never once in his united career shown he could be a starter at united but fair play to him, he has made a career out of his limited ability and ended up as a reliable utility man, now he is not even reliable anymore, he is costing us points along with his irish buddy jonny evans.

The midfield is pretty much defensively naive, fletch might cover the whole pitch with work rate but tactically he isn't astute, carrick wasn't a flashy player but he was effective and defensively sound, its funny we can only appreciate this players when they're out.

park is another player that should be played in a 3man midfield, he hasn't got the talents to dominate teams so therefore he is reliable in a big game, not when we need creativity.

I could go on but we've being there before, if we defend like this against a very creative valencia, we will get battered i can assure you that, teams have worked out our weaknesses and they're exploiting them well, its up to sir alex to sort this bullshit out.

Okay we know the defence is having a nightmare

For whatever it's worth we haven't lost

But that doesn't mean that 3 draws are acceptable in the first three games

Fulham game was weird Everton match was a disgrace Bolton match we were losing and got away with it

I of all people cannot defend the indefensible but here is something

Let the team leak the goals - I really do hope they fucking start to tighten up though

It was far worse last year in winter when we had no defence to call upon - so let's just pray for some shining light

Everyone bar Vidic is having a shocker in defence - I think it's high time to get Evans out of the team for his own sake and give him a breather and get Smalling in and let Evans recalculate whatever he has to because it's obvious the kid is going through something

I would argue the same for Evra and John. This is not a crisis yet but it could be if nothing is done about it - I do believe the manager was right though to stick with the same defence - you have to give your players a chance to respond to criticism - when they don't they themselves know what it coming.

Hang on reds 32 games to go 3 points behind goal difference to catch up - just hang on - this is a crazy start to a league...

Actually, forget NFT. What a bunch of cunts they are. Owen Coyle - what a tosser. Those two substitutions in injury time... the little twat had them up his sleeve just in case they were fluking a jammy result against us and it worked a treat.

We really weren't at the races today. Not making excuses but there's no way any team should be playing games at 12pm FFS. Still should have beaten them though.

Great header by Michael Owen TBF. He deserves a start now. Very disappointed by the way that Hernandez and the twins have been marginalised recently. We really should have kept Cleverley as well. So much for giving young players a chance.

@rooney the new king

2 years ago pretty much the same defensive players broke the record for number of clean sheets on the spin so I have confidence in them and Fergie that we sill soon start seeing improvements. You don't see us keeping 'any' clean sheets away from this season. I don't for one second actually believe you mean that.

We can't take any positives from this game Samuel? Yes we can, we got a point, we scaresly deserved. Giggs out for 2 weeks, Rooney should be ok for Wednesday.

Well he was okay but not the best on the pitch in my opinion. The only player I can think of that played rather well was Vidic.

@RTNK

For a reason only known to him, O'Shea decides to drift inside when Bolton score the second. But as I said, you are always at a disadvantage when a team counters from a corner of yours. Everyone is all over the place. Look at where Fletcher was.

@TheRadLegion

Scholes can still pull off master displays, but the midfield is ubalanced. Especially in away games. Fletch should be covering him defensively, but he spends most of the time on the attacking side of our game. With Carrick and Ando returning, I think it's time to try out different midfield combos, especially away from home.

@Red Typhoon

As I said above. Looks like he is getting his priorities a bit mixed up. It's leading us to playing kamikaze football.

Cheers. Could be time to give Obertan a chance. Giggs was bound to get a hamstring problem at some point.

We've definitely gained a point here. Last season, our attack was mediocre, if Rooney wasn't fit, we lack attacking ideas. But we were defensively decent.(Decent cos i think our best ever defence was 07-08 with RIo,Vida,Wes and Pat nearly all the time available). This time its the other way round, we're much better in attack but the defense is utter atrocity to the maximum. That said, please don't start Berba bashing (hopefully that depleted after last week). Berba could have done better, but he had to drift wide, cos he had to try and get the ball, since delivery wasn't good. We lacked much in the final third today, not cos Berba/Rooney/Macheda/Owen weren't doing their jobs, but cos the delivery was sparse. And the delivery was sparse cos of our terrible defending( including the defensive mids obviously). No urgency, not much pressing of the ball?Come on lads, isn't the incentive of going 1 point behind enough?We have to sort the defense. Rio: WE NEED YOU. O' shea, i'm sorry can't be a regular starter!There's Wes!or rafael!And park-isn't much of a game changer. He didn't contribute much.
While putting 3 strikers on was great, saw glimpses of nice interplay btwn Berba and Macheda . We were pressing well after Owen scored- but when we lost it, It never really came back!the defense is driving me crazy.Vida is good as usual, while Pat may make mistakes at times, but its Evans and O Shea.And Fletch's a little off colour.
That said, i think there's a tiny bit extra negativity. This is 1 point gained. Everton-yes, 2 DAFT points dropped.You can't say we won't win the league just cos of this. As seen from yesterday's results, clearly shows that there's no fear of big teams, and the league's tougher. We could have actually won all the games we've drawn so far, its the defense that's letting us down.
We will the league, but
SHAKE UP THE DEFENDING .

Nani was our most productive player, he made one goal and scored the other one.

Agreed to all points. Anderson have the tendency to waste the ball with his inconsistent passing skill. But I always fancy him replacing Scholes one day and I hope he could straight his head and learn from mr Scholes the meister himself.. rather than waste his time partying.

what is park in the team for?? DEFENDING.. if u watch the replay... park was right next to petrov when he made the switch field pass... but did NOT follow him or even look to see if he was making the run... he let him run and petrol had so much space he could have had 2 bad touches and stil would have got a shot away... the point is park is in the team because of his work ethic and defending.. if he isnt doing that.. wtf is he doing ?

There is nothing to worry. It's still early season. Although we could have been at a better position but we still alright at the moment. But i hope the central midfielder can come back from injury. Our midfield is the weakest area where we constantly let them attack at.

Defensively, i like to see Rafael have a go at right back. The rest did alright. Nani cross was dreadful but i can only see Nani provide threats, with Nani, our speed of play will be damn slow and without him, there will be no creativity. We need another fast winger where i like to see Obertan or Bebe have a go. Owen looks brilliant and should have a start instead of Rooney. Let Rooney have a rest and he will be back to his best.

We still alright and if we starts to have our midfielder back from injury, we will be fine.

You can say whatever you want (even without insulting anybody- which says enough about you) but the matter of fact is that when we needed most a decent delivery in the box for Berba and Owen, Nany let us down badly. We had enough time to score another goal. Yes Nani scored one and made one, but that means nothing if you do not win! And he could have been a real hero had his delivery and judgment at times been better.

Six games in to the premier league season & there are 10 sides that have conceded less goals than us.
