It would be nice if we could maintain possession for more than 5 secs in the last 20 mins or so.

Do Everton still have Mikel Arteta? ;)

welbeck is good, but he let possesion go very often. He should try hold the ball better, something Berb could do.
Meanwhile Chicha's movement is great, just take a look at his goals against lvfool & everton...

not the reaction we wanted, too nervy... on another day, everton would have got something out of this.

3 pts all the same....

I'd say that was one of the ugliest 3 pts I've seen in a long time, but it's still 3 pts at a place we haven't picked up 3 pts lately. I'll take it but that 2nd half performance was embarassing.

Balaji Sivaraman October 29, 2011
@Saad, Actually that is exactly the reason why Sir Alex brought on Berbatov. We were always going to sit back, so from an attacking perspective there is no difference between Berba and Chicha apart from the fact that Berba's touch is better overall. The reason Berba was brought on was to provide insurance against Everton's big men at the back.

@TheCANTONA

I dont care. Berbatov, Rooney and Jones have to start every game in some capacity whatsoever. Fill the rest of the positions with horses-for-courses.

Fuck me, we barely got out of there alive. Not at all happy with the 2nd half performance but I'll take the win. Some of the lads had huge brainfarts at crucial times.

p.s..Cleverley makes a HUGE fucking difference in the midfield.

Happy with the 3 points but we were lucky that everton is not that good with finishing, it'll be a different story against slightly better teams... hope cleverley is ok though...

We were already inviting pressure on ourselves, but once Tom got injured all attacking play from us just stopped. We stopped going forward unless it was for a break. Not advocating that he is, in fact, the Messiah, but it is pretty obvious that most of our intricate, creative, fluid play is flowing through him when he is playing.

Performances was always going to get second preference to the result today. You don't come back from a 1-6 humiliation to romp a team like Everton to victory in their own backyard. 3 points is all that matters and we can move on now.

Still would like to know what's the deal with Carrick though.

you keep banging on about berba like he is maradona, fucking hell. fergie picks the team and if he feels berba hasn't done enough to warrant a start then i agree with him, he sees them in training everyday not you or i, everyone plays for the team not for the happiness of berbatov.

In conclusion a win is a win, i said yesterday that if we match them for fight then we can get something and a win at everton, a ground we haven't won at for four years is an achievement, now we can slowly but surely regain form, simple as that.

Well good day all, and all is RED!
Lil Pea gets another.
Vida is back.
Fellini is a beast.
I like one or two beasts on a team.
TC be well and heal, do not push ligaments like Rooney and re-injure a few times. It then can be months before your healthy.

@Balaji.. Good question mate. Where on God's green earth is Carrick?? Not that Fletcher had a bad game but Carrick would have steadied the ship. Guess, we will see him against Galati. By the way, Parky was my MOM. He was everywhere today.

Costas October 29, 2011
Like Balaji said, TC's injury really derailed all attacking plans. Plus, like I said at half time, we don't defend high up the pitch for some reason. Don't know why that is. Can't remember the last time our box was loaded with so many reds so many times.

Anyone heard what's up with Tom? Hopefully he just twisted his ankle or something. He was back on the bench in the end. We don't want another injury crisis...

@Balaji

There are more differences between Berba and Chico.

Berba passes better.

Berba holds the ball better.

Berba shoots better.

Berba can defend better.

Berba can link up better.

Berba can go one-on-one better.

Chico just gets into better positions and has a better strike-rate inside the box. I'm yet to see Chico beat the offside trap and outrun defenders with his supposed blistering pace.

@Samuel, You keep banging on about how you know that Berbatov hasn't done enough. How the fuck do you know this? Stateside has eloquently argued countless times that Berbatov not getting picked has nothing to do with the man itself, it has everything to do with the fact that Welbeck and Chicharito are much younger and better prospects for our future. They need game time and that is the reason why they are constantly getting picked ahead of the Berb. It "doesn't" have anything to do with Berbatov's form. Hell, he hasn't played enough for anyone to judge how his form actually is.

Seriously, this is getting beyond ridiculous now. I am getting pissed off at every second comment saying Berbatov is not playing because he hasn't performed well in the matches on in training. Just look at the way he helped us keep possession in the end to run down the clock. I can guarantee that Welbz or Chicha for all their good work could not have done that.

Fuck, this is pissing me off.

The Berb didn't do a lot up front, but the way he retained possession for us there in the end was genius. Get in line ladies. He's mine. :)

On a serious note, maybe Fergie has stambled on a good tactic for away games by playing further back. It makes his partnership with Chicharito less effective, but it gives us better control of the midfield.

Berba is no Maradona and I for one have never made that comparison. Stop putting words in other people's mouths.

But the fact remains Berbatov is our most talented footballer in the squad (now that Scholesy's retired) and his quality needs to be on the field. You put enough quality on the field, you're bound to create chances and make things happen. It's called the frackin' law of averages.

Berba, Rooney, Nani and Jones have to be on the field at any given game.

Guys, no need for the Berba arguements. Balaji makes a good point that he hasn't lost his spot because he hasn't done well. It's not his fault he isn't a yard faster and 3-4 years younger. Personally I accept that no matter what, Roon, Chicha and Danny will get picked ahead of him and I try to enjoy whatever minutes he gets on the pitch. Is he better on the ball than Javier or Danny? Maybe. But it's clear what Sir Alex values in his strikers at the moment and that's speed and the ability to link up well with Wayne.
