I live in Northampton.. it's priceless as there are loads of Scouse fans around here (like anywhere really), I shall be milking this lots.

City out to 2-1 to West Brom . What a night!!

Love the egg on Drogba's face, but ultimately this could work to their advantage. They don't have the squad for a quadruple. Or a treble. IMO they can only handle 2 competitions at the same time.

Full time. The Richest Club in the World (TM) are out.

If only Northampton can somehow sneak a win at Anfield, my day will be done.

How can people say that Owen is finished after the game he had tonight? I thought he had an excellent all round game and scored two goals.

Lol, we don't even care to make fun of the dippers anymore.

Tick tock....

That's for Mancini. WHen is the next flight to Milan?

Give me some ratings on how these players did:
Gibson (more than shooting?)
Ando (learnt anything from scholes?)
Gibson and Ando partnership
Chicharito (where did he play)
Macheda (threatening and positive as usual?)
Smalling (how did he do defensively)
Rio (ready to give Evans a breather?)
Bebe (someone said shades of ronaldo...please say yes)
Obertan (ready for action in the first XI?)

@willierednut, agreed but chelsea seem to have this tag of invisibility that they will walk this league but we always welcome any sign of the bridge showing signs of mortality, they're as effective as machines without a doubt but nice to see them lose at the bridge

Even sweeter that those twats at eastlands get kicked out.

Eikrem or Evans deserved a chance in the last 10-15 mins. Puzzling decision to let a substitution go unused.

We'll see on Saturday if Chelsea are starting to wobble, but as Costas says, this will probably help them, their squad isn't the biggest.

@ samuel. The re is even talk of them going through the league this season undefeated so lets just hope shitty, the gonners and villa dont dissapoint in the next 4 weeks.

@arijc, yeah it would have being nice to see eikrem get minutes so we can see how he fairs against a much higher opposition than he faces in the reserves, supposed he's got more time to do that? we've progressed in the league cup and fa cup to come.

Bit disappointed bebe didn't get long enough on the pitch, talent is there definitely and he's got more time to show it.

Pool are fucking losing, northampton 2 - pool 1

While winning the CC doesn't mean that much to Chelsea being knocked out in the first round is a definite bad thing for them .Just like United, they need games to get players match sharp either from injury or as squad players who will be needed to cover for injuries and suspensions as the going gets tough around the turn of the year.

Fergie has come to value the CC for that reason and don't doubt that both City and Chelski will rue going out so early.

Is Cleverly injured?
what's the point of sending the lad out on loan if he cant get a Carling Cup game in for Wigan???

samuel - united WE stand September 22, 2010
@willierednut, fair point mate but they weren't ever going to field big players in this competition so it gives them no advantage or disadvantage but always nice to see them lose either way.

@Chicharito14, exactly mate they've looked efficient this season, don't think they've had to get out of 2nd gear to destroy teams, scoring for fun and i guess that's where the media gave them that tag of invisibility but they're yet to be tested for sure so we will see.

If we were ever going to believe the English press in general than we would be saying that UNITED have been crap, lucky and fortunate for their success over the past 18 years, not to mention Sir Alex being an average manager!!!

I couldn't help it, I went to check the Liverpool group on Facebook and OMG this is the best laugh I have had in years. Guess what: some of them are asking to bring Rafa back! hahahahahaha desperate times hahahaha...now let me go back there :)

@Costas, if we believed everything the media say, we'd all need to start questioning our intelligence, the tabloids are run by bitter clowns, just like us they haven't seen him play properly and he needs time to settle into united style and english football, i certainly will be backing him and hopefully the talent shines through eventually.

Good points lads. Not to mention that if the press were correct, Erikson would have been our coach by now!

The only thing they managed to do, was make Bebe more popular among fans.

What im still trying to understand is why on earth bebe has been slated by the daily mail.the guy looks like he is worth 7 million, and to be honest players like bentley were bought for more than that.

I always rued the fact that I wasn't born in the 50's- I missed the entire Busby era and the likes of Charlton, Law, Best and Duncan Edwards. The Ferguson era has been incredible, but to have been a witness to both eras would have been perfect.

As laughable as the dippers defeat was for me city's is even funnier.... A multi billion squad losing out on another chance to win something... keeps our banner alive LOL

My money is on mancini to be the first PL manager to lose his job.... and long may the laughs continue

Agreed. The dippers, you feel kind of sad for. Chelski, you knew it was coming given their squad depth. But City getting knocked out was hillarious...One step closer to retaining the banner, lol.

@ABC

Mancini imo. They will probably forgive this, but it won't make things easier for him. If he is not in the top 4 by Christmas, they will Mark Hughes him...

They will Mark Hughes him! Luv that phrase!
All I can really say it's a positive result for United all round. Dippers out, Chelski out
Wastelanders out. Plus good performances from PIG, Rio, Smalling, Anderson, Gibson
Owen . Made me think that these are the games where players like Rio etc coming back from
Long injuries and needing match sharpness and a proper work out are priceless.
Onwards and upwards.
The Newcastle result shows that they are not invincible like the media and they
Would want us to believe. In fact they haven't been tested. Who have they played
So far? West Brom @ home, Wigan away (who lost 4-0 @ home to blackpool the week b4)
Stoke @ home, West Ham away and Blackpool @ home. 5 easy games!
