Chris,
We will need him, Mikhi, soon.
No need to start discarding talented players when we have few.

ZAna
Not reading much into this game, given how limp the opposition is. Most of our players has not been or needed to be outstanding for us to coast.
Nonetheless, I'll say we are controlling this game mainly due to CARRICK.
He should be starting the league games, with Herrera and Pogba, moving forward...

@Tywinn
No doubt. Credit to the manager. When he was down, he went for the veterans. I can now understand the thinking behind today's team.
And you know Ive been strongly behind him, but not reluctant to criticize him objectively.

If this is his template going forward then what I'll want to see is:
1. Herrera returns for Fellaini
2. Mikhi on the bench as direct replacement for Mata
3. Rashford and Martial to come in for Zlatan and Rooney if/when they underperform.

That way, we have a consistent system going.

The defence will pick itself based on the injury situation.

We just need some consistency in form and tactical system now.

Fellaini literally big for nothing. I just dnt get why managers keep using him. He was actually decent under LVG still crap but occasionally did smth good. Now he is jst completely useless he dsnt even win most of his ariel challenges.

Fucking Great.... as soon as Zlatan hits form, he get a needless yellow and misses the Arsenal Match...

I'm freaking livid at Zlatan.. Easiest game he's played in a united and its resulted in 2 goals (which he desperately needed).. then he goes and gets a yellow card...

I felt we would win comfortably as we went for experience, also selected Carrick as MoM in the confirmed lineup thread something about him playing gives us direction.

Sumptuous goal from Pogba. This was too easy. Nice positive going into the international break. Hope no one get's injured.

Spot on Kross man
In the easiest game of the season, Fellaini with NO ROLE to play ( he is neither the DM or the creator) manages to put in an average performance...and I'm being generous here.

Ifeanyi,
I said same of Carrick.

Overall,
The second half unfortunately revealed exactly how this line up could end up playing....insipid

We'll still take the 3 points. Congrats, but ways to go yet ...

I'm sorry but I'm not carried away by this result atall. swansea simply sulked in the first half. The first half was simply down to individual brilliancy.

In the second half swansea came out to play.

I'm happy we won but I'm hoping Mourinho isn't getting any funny ideas.

Shocking second half performance. Absolutely no attacking intent. Mourinho probs told them to sot back despite seeing our awful goal difference. Swansea are a poor team we shouldve took advantage of that and won 5-0 at least.

Poor

Final comment.
Let's settle on a system and just go with direct like for like replacenents.

Pep and Mourinho are both struggling for consistency as they keep fiddling with their systems.

Sometimes your best players may not start so be it. Chelsea are doing well with Pedro and Moses, because the system fits them. Willian, Fabregas and Oscar have been sacrificed.

Fortunately for us, any system we pick and stay with will utilize MOST of our best players, so go ahead and set the platform and pick the players accordingly!

I'm not about short term results. That performance was not good. The lineup was poor too. The second half was a total shambles. But I did say we could win this given the total shittiness of Swansea this season. I'd have preferred if we could play Sunderland after this. They are just as shit. But at least we actually scored goals.

The stupidity of Zlatan though. You get two goals after the nightmare of luck last week then you acquire for yourself a completely needless yellow card. Profound stupidity.

I know the results people will be looking at this and thinking "progress". It was a very bad performance and we all got anxious towards the end. And I don't like how this might become the formation and lineup of choice against Arsenal. We will be ripped to shreds. And I hope Rashford doesn't find himself on the periphery. Martial might also experience the same fate.

Rooney was poor in pretty much every department. Passing. Holding on to a football and even receiving a pass. But he is one of the most effective players in the box. He has never lost that productivity where it matters most. That's why he should be banned from number 10 and strictly play striker. Everytime he drops deep we suffer. But he is effective in front of goal. So just play him there. If he has to play then minimize his involvement in build up play and have him play in the goal areas spaces. Two assists and a goal in two games is very productive. It should be commended. But he is not a midfielder. He is not a playmaker. He is only good as a striker. That's pretty much it. Against Arsenal he should play that position.

Finally. I don't know if it's possible for Marouane Fellaini to be given an official vote of no confidence by the fans. Maybe it could hasten his departure from the club. I don't know what the fuck I was smoking in LVG's first six months. Not only did I support LVG,I even supported Fellaini when the vast majority were totally against having him in the team. That guy is a serious impediment to the entire club. It's so frustrating to see his name in the lineup prior to kick off. You're assured immediately of slow reactive sloppy football. Even playing an even slower and sloppier Swansea team.

For fucks sake can that guy just resign on principle.

Just play Mata at 10,Pogba as an advanced midfielder. Herrera box to box. Carrick/Schneiderlin screening the defense. And use two pacy players in the wide forward positions. Any two of Martial,Rashford,Henrikh,Lingard,Depay. Zlatan and Rooney compete for number 9. We need to have a system of energy, speed and creativity.

United24 I agree that we should settle on one tactic and formation. I don't think we've lost a match Carrick played this season like I said before replacing that position is our most important job right now since Scholes retired our midfield has been hopeless especially when Carrick doesn't play.

Yes Ifean.
We haven't lost a league game Mata has started either (first blip was Fenerbache)
I'll tear my bald hair off, if Mata or Carrick sits and Fellaini starts vs Arsenal

Mirian.
You always set up yourself for argument, for the sake of it.
Everybody on this board is interested in PERFORMANCE.
Some are interested in results TOO, that's why they were disappointed with the Burnley and Stoke results, despite the performance.

I don't know why you want to assume a moral high ground, when you never criticize the PERFORMANCE of Zlatan or Pogba (when they don't perform ) but always jump on Mourinho when co- incidentally the RESULTS go bad...

We've had many better performances in a quarter of a season, than we had with two years of LVG, yet the criticism of Mourinho have been over the top. If results are not what you are subconciously looking at, then I don't find the basis for the moaning...

Three big points
The lack of speed in the first half wasn't exposed Swansea sat deep. The older skilled players broke them down Wazza involved in all three goals with two assists.
As Mirain said Rooney still effective in the box.
First half did you guys see Matta and Rooney on the left side providing over powering man power.
The 4 behind Zlatan rotated well.
When Pogba received the ball everyone turned to break.

24 Jose got it right , old slow hurt less as they sat deep, Zlatan and Rooney getting to connect better all the time.
As a realist I hope. I hope those two with the lads get United back in the CL.
The next 15 months there are 3 Windows let's hope Zlatan and Rooney are released or sold with great new players and development of youth in the teams now!

Cantona's spell worked well on Rooney, jose and Ibra.

The moral high ground is in your head. I just state my opinions raw. I don't apologize for them. You can't tell me what I ought to prioritize. And I didn't direct my opinions to you. So I'm not creating an argument. I'm just being consistent with my opinions.

I applauded the performance against Burnley. I was not frustrated with the result. I was frustrated with lack of clinical finishing. I actually criticized Zlatan for this initially and even said he ought to be dropped. So you are way off the mark about him. I only debated the hypocrisy of "it's Zlatan's fault" when everyone was failing to score.

I also was frustrated by the defensive substitutions and the constant Mata sub when he was clearly our most dangerous player. That's on Mourinho. I also criticize players that deserve criticism. I can't criticize Zlatan today because he was clearly one of the better players. Just like last weekend. I even said before the game today Zlatan should sit this one out. He is being overused. I criticized Rooney today for his poor play in basic things like passing and control and build up play. But I also said he is productive and if he should be played then play him as a striker.

Overall last weekend I praised the match performance and pre Mata sub tactics. But we didn't win. Overall today I'm critical of the match performance and selection. Tactics, performance and direction matter more to me by far than a single result

On the other thread you called me a results person, when I have stood by our manager despite the relatively poor results.
You have tried to create the impression that there is a " result oriented group" versus a performance oriented one here on ROM

To Jose Mourinho.
Please stop this public spats with the players...
We are just 3 points behind Spurs, and 6 behind City, and Arsenal (who we play next).
Tougher tests ahead, and we'll need everyone including Henrikh, Shaw and Smalling!

Please!!!

I agree jose should stop criticizing players so publicly but then I wonder is there something more to it than we are not aware of. Surely Jose would not come suddenly and talk about fighting for the badge etc. etc. I love Shaw but if he does not care to fight for the club then I do not know what to say. Look at the performances from us in last 3 years, managers cannot be always be faulted. Players also need to be looked into, I have witnessed many games in past 2 odd years where our players hardly look motivated.

Hopefully Jose brings back that passion in the players coz it has been missing since sir alex retired.

We need to beat le-arse and keep climbing
can't complain about the performance though, it was a patched up team out there today,we back among the goals, Zlatan especially, now he will miss our next match of which i blame him and José
we were winning comfortably, zlatan on a yellow, why not Sub him ???
that was an elementary mistake by both player and manager
I just hope Rashford or martial is up for it, I won't be surprised if he starts Rooney though, cuz we gonna need his experience
but why respect le-arse,let's go all out against them "ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK"

I have no problems with Mourinho talking about players in public. Ok, maybe not as much. But it is clear some of our players don't have the stomach for a fight. It cannot be 100% fault of the manager for the past 3 years.

A look at our game against Swansea and you can see very obvious signs of it. Pogba, for all the criticism directed towards him, was very agitated in the second half with the lack of pressing by some of his team mates.

Ash
I agree in principle about bringing discipline back to the team, but given his recent history, I worry a little that he may overdo it and it backfires.
Look at the likes of Hazard, Costa and Matic. They went into " irreversible decline" after falling out with him and look at them now.

I suspect Ivanovic was similar to Fellaini....someone always following instructions, but short on talent....he played more games than he deserved to, cost them a lot of games and will still not be dropped.

The Mikhitaryan situation is also disturbing. Bundesliga best player not good enough for this United bench? Just think about it!

I am still one of José greatest fans, but I hoped that we will get the greatest part of him, and he will drop the "nasty" part.

I'm still hopeful that the culture of our club will eventually change every "weakness" of his for the better.

It is not surprising Jose specifically praised Jones, young, rooney and Carrick. These are sir Alex guys so they must know a thing or two about passion and commitment. As much as I want young to be sold , he gives his 100 percent. I think many of the lads are taking this club for a ride. pogba and ibra for all the criticsm give the 100 percent You could see they care about doing well and taking this club to the top. It is not surprising sir Alex never had mentally frigile players playing for him. We need players who care for this club and will die playing for this badge. That's what kept us at the top and now we need that passion back.

Concur with Ash

Can you imagine Shaw going up to Sir Alex to tell him he feels not up for it? FFS the next match for the club is freaking almost 2 weeks away! Go run till you drop then come and tell me you are tired

Out of all the recruits to come in post Sir Alex, the only one that seems to have some fight in his belly is Herrera

Maybe some of our players expect José to go down on them just like klopp and Conte does before they are motivated
