"if you told me before the game that united would draw today and qualify, i would have taken that and said job done."

not this way. players were dead tired. for sure SAF didn't plan this.
the only positive is coming back from the 2 goals deficit with players like Obertan on the field.
By the way, Gary looked good today.

You know, Obertan looks so promising its unreal. Not only does he look good on the ball and off the ball, he brings Evra into the mix far more than Nani ever did, which is simply 100000000% better for the team. Simple football >>>>> Nani, and we hardly have a clue about whatelse obertan can do

Impressed with Macheda tonight, unlucky not to score and had some nice touches. Few years away from being a starter but showing good signs.

Obertan did well when he came on and I think Nani will be scared, what I liked about him was that he looked for the pass before running into trouble (also showed some good vision).

The only defence I have for Nani is that he has been playing on the left, however I dont rate him and I hate his cocky swagger.

Fingers crossed we are more switched on come sunday!

Why is Obertan played on the left though? I swear I don't think I saw him touch the ball once with his left foot, and I know that he didn't beat his man down the line once, he cut back inside to his right foot every single time, or played in Evra down the line.

I thought Kiko was an 8 out of 10 tonight.

Oh and Johnny Evan and Obertan both need to watch out... They both had a little bit of the red mist today, especially Obertan who on the replay looked like the kicked the shit out of their player away from the ball and behind the ref's back. I hate that pussy kind of play. The guy had his back turned and you kick him and then run away... He was right to be pissed off.

@Drew Vader: Hi mate. I think Obertan has that reputation fro his Bordeaux days. He is still young and hopefully his short fuse will wear off after a while.

Speaking of Bordeaux, i think congrats are in order for Laurent and the job he has done with them.

Thought Neville wad a disgrace for 80 minutes slow, constantly out of position, poor work-rate!
Fantastic last ten mins from him tho!!

Because we have three right footed wingers. One of them has to play out there or we need to buy a left sided winger or one comfortable playing out there.

The threat of Evra meant their defenders didnt double up on Obertan and also Evra often overlaped which meant Obertan had no need to beat them.

The left sided position is definately going to be a big turning point. I definately would not play Nani against Chelsea

i understand and agree with your disappointment in the team's performance. but it is a result that worked in our favor. kiko macheda heroics last year saved our title hopes last year in games like villa where we played poorly and could have cost us the title. but nobody talks about their poor form in those games, you just remember the end result.

if fletcher got the penalty and united scored and it ended up 4-3 united would you still be so negative? i think yes. cheers mate, i respect your opinion but we qualified today with a team full of reserve and squad players. it was fletcher's first game back. wes hasn't played first team football in awhile, and this is the champion's league and not a carling cup game against a championship side. cska wasn't just going to roll over. this is a bad performance but not a bad result in terms of the team's goals for qualification.

i expect a much better starting xi and performance against chelsea.

Also is anyone else thinking Aguero would be a hell of a purchase. Rather him than Villa because of the age gap.

I actually feel a little sorry for Nani. The guy aint performing but it most be so hard getting subbed every game. I just wish he would try and do the simple things and build his game from there.

Costas -- Yeah he's just 20 I guess and hopefully SAF and the coaches will see it on the replay and have words with him about it.

And I agree, Larry White looks like a very promising young coach.

considering the players we had missing (berba, giggs, vida, rio, as well as not having rooney and evra on for the better part of an hour) it was more like the second team was playing, plus add to that that we have not been playing to top level as of yet and that we were against a very solid team in cksa moscow (who are not an easy team by any means, they could give all the top teams problems on their day and today was obviously one of those days - apart from the final scoreline) and the draw was a gutsy performance from utd - not many teams would be able to pull themselves back together after going down by 2 goals. Yes, we have some pretty major problems that we need to find the answers to before 2010 rolls in and we start to pay for our mistakes. The major problem seems to be our defense with vds not quite in the rhythm of things since coming back from his injury and only evra really doing the business in the back 4 - rio & vidic need to recover from their injuries and snap out of whatever they're going through, and whilst we're still in 2009, and we need a more regular right back who can do the job. The more forward positions however show much promise for the future with berba & rooney showing signs of improvement, obertan looks like he's got potental, owen's doing his part for the bargain of the year award and valencia, though no ronaldo replacement is doing a very good impression of rescuing pts at the death. And with hargreaves hopefully coming back this side of the decade (touch wood) and ljanic & diouf (who both look like talents for the future) the sparks that has been clearly missing from the team so far this season could be soon winging their way back. i'm cautious but optimistic right now.

One thing that stood out tonight. What a gentleman Fletcher is turning out to be. That booking tonight. Yes he did protest a bit. But could you imagine what Drogba would have done? Or Stevie me, Torres, Faburshite?

Mucho respecto Fletcherinho

And after his red card at the emirates last year where Faburshite threww himself to the ground and rolled over a few times.

Guys, seeing all this comment seems funny. All the blame is on nani. i know he did badly but he setup for the first goal is nice. i bet no one other than him and Berbatov is able to do that. If he play badly, we should just ignore him and stop condemn him and let Sir Alex plan. i didn't get to watch the match as i was so sleepy and i thinking during that time whether to watch. I decided to sleep and how wrong was i. It was a wonderful comeback. Oh my. Gonna catch the repeat. I hope we go on to win the match this weekend. All the pundits are predicting the opponent will win us. I know we playing badly, but not sure why i had a feeling we can win or draw there.

Be positive mate. Everything will be sorted. We need to gel and we had more players coming in January. i don't think they play badly. Coming back from 3-1 to 3-3. I expected in the beginning of the season where they will be playing like this and grinding result out. I remember scott mentioning that too. If we can win the trophy by the end of the season will this kind of form, i could take it. I don't want to watch beautiful football like Arsenal and not win anything at the end of the season.

@ kel

you will have to read not one comment of mine in order to understand how possitive i am. ;)
Nobody blames Nani for the result. It was just an impression and nothing else. I don't see any improvement and that's it. Play Obertan instead of Nani anyday.

Hmm. In the 2nd half, nani did well i thought. After watching the game, macheda seems to miss a couple of chance. He can't play a one two with owen.

Well, i often get it right. How do these names sound? Obertan, Zidane. It's all in it. The lad entertains but with urgency. That's the united way. It has been missing, but i can see it coming back. There's just something about orbetan.i feel he's underrated.thanx SAF. My quote!: FORGET ZIDANE, PLAY OBERTAN, AND I'TS DONE. Nani's only chance: try him as a striker. He'll be best there,'cos for sure despite his poor decision making, he shoots at the site of goal. United, play with urgency and chelsea will be no match. Utd 3 : 1 chels.

Nani has absolutely no fucking business wearing a United shirt, what a complete zero.

Move over Soul-Glo, Even Macheda playing fill in wing before Obe-Tan Kenobi came in did a better job. Nani in completely infuriating... He is simply not good enough and even at his best is sub-par.

On the night Macheda was fucking class, not just for an 18 year old, but for a holding target man period. Obi-Tan was definitely more assured than he was on debut, and even this early looks to have a better head on him than Soul-Glo the professional bad luck doll.
