nice to see rio and vidic back today. and evra plays yet another game. how many is that now in a row? brilliant. shame about brown going of. centre mid was pretty poor today but great goal from scholes, and a brilliant way to get his century. Gibson kist proved my point today about being only interested in shooting. central midfielders need to be offering more than that.

i thought berbatov had a hard job today because the midfield weren't brilliant but at the same time, i still can't work him out. for a striker who was leading the line, there simply can not be any excuses for his blatant reluctance to get in the box at times. as valencia and nani counter attacked at times, he was what appeared to be jogging to get in to the box. and again in the second half when VDS threw the ball to park who was trying to find someone up front. diouf was there. berbatov was on the half way line, not really bothered about trying to get in to the box. compare that to players in the past for us who have run from one end of the pitch to another just to get in to the box to score, such as rooney against arsenal. Also, interesting to note that Fergie said after the match that for the scholes chance (which he scored of course) he was glad he got the chance, as he felt that he was the best player to get it. as if to say, he had more faith in scholes scoring from there then any other player playing for us on that pitch today, including berbatov

Drew Vader @ 23:19: "Denton — Thats a bit pessimistic dont ya think dude?"

Not really; I write about what I see. Perhaps I have expectations that are unrealistic BUT when you expect TheLads to play in a manner befitting the league leaders, defending a treble and going for a record fourth-on-the-trot, THEN just getting by just isn't good enough. This was especially the case today for Michael Carrick, Dimitar Berbatov, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, and Wesley Brown. These guys aren't numpties but they sure played that way today. They can do much, much better and it's not a matter of "protecting their feelings" to comment on how they under-performed; rather, it's a matter of expectations. I expected more - and better - from that quintet who, when taken together, formed the core of the onfield team today. That's what I saw in the match I watched - it's not like I was expecting to watch Spurs-in-disguise; I was expecting to watch the back-to-back-to-back EPL champions which is why I wrote such a "pessimistic" comment - I defy any one of you to suggest that our team, playing this way, will win the EPL and/or CL. They have to do much, much better - and those five guys are cornerstones so they need to be particularly held to account for a dismal display for a very lucky result.

@LunG420: Loaned to Cologne FC

As for the game, I was pretty disappointed with Berbatov. Fella just doesn't wanna get in the box at all. Valencia looked little effective without Rooney. Sadly I can finally see that Nani's burst of form was only temporary. We were a little too lucky not to concede what was inevitable at the injury time.
Good thing is... Fletch and Wayne (fingers crossed) would be returning to the starting XI this Wednesday. Let's give them Italians a big thrashin to nevr forget!

The 4 gears of Berbatov:
a) Magic
b) Slow
c) Slower
d) Neutral

denton - You will NEVER give Berbatov credit mate. Aside from Paul he was United's best player today.

Cannot believe all the whinging especially on the post match show on MUTV. Those kind of scrappy wins today win you titles. A HUGE result at Molineaux.

denton - Furthermore of course they can do better but you can't have 4-0 wins away from home every week. It will be scrappy and Wolves made it difficult. Its all about getting the 3 points at this stage and thats what United did. As I say a HUGE result especially with more than one eye on Europe.

King Eric - good early morning, mate :)
It's funny these days we might have to rely on Berba on Wednesday in the game of immense importance.

Corea - Good morning mate. Off to bed now! Was watching Hurt Locker and fell asleep on sofa at 2am. Just woke up. Nah I reckon Rooney will be fit for Wednesday no doubt its just a smoke screen and Fergie getting his point across to Capello that playing him for that long could have fucked our season up.

I think this is one of those times where I can't fault our team for the performance. This was a very disruptive week for us. Playing at Wembley, losing Rooney, Owen and Evans and having those idiotic internationals. Lets see what week these players had:

-VDS: Was well rested for 2 weeks.

-Brown: Didn't play against Villa, but played 90 minutes against Egypt.(Thank Fabio)

-Ferdinand: Just returned from another setback and still looks a tad rusty.

-Vidic: Had a good week's rest, but it was his first game back with Rio after 4 months.

-Evra: Played 90 minutes against Villa and another 90 on Wednesday. Has been playing non stop for 2 months.

-Valencia: Had a week's rest.

-Carrick: Played for 90 minutes against Villa and 45 against Egypt at Wembley. I am surprised the Wembley pitch didn't kill him like Rooney...

-Scholes: Has been rested for 10 days now.

-Gibson: Played for 5 minutes against Villa and for 45 on Tuesday.

-Nani: Played for 60 minutes in midweek. Hasn't played for us in 18 days.

-Berbatov: Played for 90 minutes against Villa and another 45 for Bulgaria in midweek.

When you look at that, it's not surprising that the likes of VDS, Valencia and Scholes were among our best players at Molineux. I am just glad this week is out of the way.

King Eric @ 7:00: "denton – You will NEVER give Berbatov credit mate. Aside from Paul he was United’s best player today."

That might just be true. BUT I expect much more from the guy - he was divine at Spurs and has largely been a dud with UTD. I especially don't like seeing a center forward playing in the center circle and then not running full-pelt to get into the box. I've never doubted his skills, which can be "exquisite", but his positioning (and end-product) is just awful; and his application ain't anything to write home about, either.

AND, I would dispute that he was UTD's second-best player at Molyneux: that was Edwin. I also thought that Valencia and Evra - who both had off-days by their lights - were "better" than Dimmy yesterday.

So, I can see that my opinions are going to get right up your nose; but, just remember, opinions are like arm-pits - we all have two and they stink !
