LvG: Hard to replace De Gea but easy to replace Lindegaard

Louis van Gaal has claimed that Victor Valdes has come to United with the aim of becoming the number one goalkeeper. Valdes himself claimed that David de Gea was currently the best goalie in the world, but Van Gaal claims the new signing has shown over the past few months that he has the quality to play for the club.

Nobody is happy to be number two and he has to have ambition to beat David De Gea – but it shall be very hard for him. As for Anders Lindegaard, who hasn’t played a single game since Van Gaal took over, it looks as though he will be allowed to leave sooner or later.

“I think (Valdes) fits more in the profile I have for a goalkeeper,” he said when asked how Valdes’ signing could affect Lindegaard’s place at United.
