Louis van Gaal got rid of lots of players in the summer transfer window and surprisingly allowed Adnan Januzaj to leave on loan to Borussia Dortmund.
Reports suggested that Van Gaal was also prepared to allow James Wilson to leave on loan, which was fairly remarkable after Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Javier Hernandez to leave. Wayne Rooney has started the season badly and unproven teenager, Anthony Martial, is the only striker to join the club.
Van Gaal has revealed he would like to allow Wilson to leave on loan to improve, but has conceded that injuries to other players may mean that Wilson has to stay.
We have to consider that [keeping him here]. Can he play like last season without [getting] many playing minutes? That is not good for him. But, of course, the injuries for Manchester United are above all other interests so we have to consider that again.
