With nearly a half of the Premier League season complete, the scene is a little clearer in terms of the title challengers, relegation scrappers and the individual stars lighting up the league.

At the time of writing, Man United are right in the title picture for the first time in, well, a long time. The team is sitting pretty in second place, only behind Liverpool on goal difference and with a game in hand to boot. United are playing well after some rocky patches and Ole is firmly at the wheel.

However, can the team sustain their form and mount a serious challenge for the title? Are any United players in line for individual awards in the Premier League? The following betting preview will help to reveal the latest odds – and the likelihood of Man United returning to the glory years.

Premier League champions?

At the start of the season, you would struggle to find many level-headed United fans who seriously believed the team could challenge for the Premier League. Confidence in Ole as the manager was mixed, the club missed out on the high-profile signing of Jadon Sancho and the Premier League trophy hasn’t returned to Old Trafford since the 2012-2013 season.

Now, however, there’s certainly growing optimism about the Red Devils’ chances. As much as it hurts to say, Liverpool were virtually unstoppable last season. Now the team has been ravaged by injuries and their form has suffered significantly as a result. Chelsea and Tottenham were both tipped as potential title challengers at the start of the season, but neither look to have the ability to be in the race come May.

Add this to the form of United, and the team is currently viewed as the third favourite to land the Premier League crown. You can get 6/1 on United, while Liverpool sit at 11/4 and Man City are the favourites at 9/10.

If you’re not confident enough in United to be top of the table at the end of the season, there’s another bet which looks a certainty: 1/3 to finish in the top four.

The Fernandes Factor

When it comes to individual awards, it’s hard to look beyond the impact of Bruno Fernandes. Signed last January, the Portuguese star transformed United instantly. He has carried this influence into the current season and is the key reason why the team is in the hunt for the title.

Right now, Fernandes is regarded as the favourite to win the PFA Player of the Year award at 5/2. The other contenders include Harry Kane (4/1), Kevin De Bruyne (5/1), Jack Grealish (9/1), Mo Salah (10/1) and Son Heung-min (10/1). With 11 goals and 7 assists in just 16 games, it’s easy to see why Fernandes is the favourite – and why he is a great choice for various markets when doing a bet builder!

His goal scoring exploits also mean he is in contention for the Golden Boot award. Right now, he is only behind Salah (13 goals) and Son (12 goals) on the list of top scorers, and you can get him for a tempting 10/1. For an outside bet, Marcus Rashford – currently on seven goals but primed to score a lot more in the next few months – is at 40/1.
