Juan Mata made his United debut this evening in our 2-0 victory and was received very well by our fans. “Juan Mata, la la la, Juan Mata, la la la” and “He made the rentboys cry, to play with Januzaj, Juan Mata, wooah, Juan Mata, wooah” were two of the favourite chants for him.
“The most important thing is that we won and we got the three points,” said Mata. “I think that this is hopefully the beginning of a good run of results. It’s been an amazing game for me. I tried my best, my team mates are very good and the atmosphere has been unbelievable. When I went out, the stand was up cheering me, it’s something I will never forget.”
Mata has also stressed the point of how great it is to be playing again, having not featured for Chelsea since his early subbing off on New Year’s Da.
“It’s been a while since I have played,” he continued. “Last week I didn’t train very well because I was waiting to come [to United]. I’m very happy to have played and been in the starting line-up. I’m looking forward to playing more, when you are playing alongside players like Robin, Chicharito, Rooney, Adan, all of them, they are very good. It’s been an amazing day for me. Three points, victory, and I’m looking forward to playing at the weekend.”
