Matic: I want to contribute to history at this great club

Following his transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United, Nemanja Matic has spoken about his hopes for the future.

Matic will wear the no.31 shirt and has signed for three years, with the option of a further year.

I am delighted to have joined Manchester United. To work with Jose Mourinho once again was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

I have enjoyed my time at Chelsea and would like to thank the club and the fans for their support. I cannot wait to meet my new team-mates and to start training with them.

This is a very exciting time for the club and I am looking forward to playing my part in creating more history for this great club.

I'm very ecstatic with our signings, but one player that excites me the most is Pereira. Hoping that he would get decent chances this season.

He's in the last year of his contract. I'm a bit worried about that to be honest. Jose will have to be careful.

There are many players in the last year of their contract this time around - I'm not sure what ED is upto
Mata, Shaw, Pereira, Herrera, Blind, Fellaini, Young and Varela (although we don't need to count him as a first team player - but still can get us decent $ if he is sold now). Out of these, with Mata, Fellaini the club don't even have the option of extending another year (although its a good thing when it comes to Fellaini!! - but still it will be wiser to get him sign a new contract as he can earn us decent $ in this crazy market!). For Shaw, Pereira, Herrera, Young - we do have an option of extending an year, may be that's the reason ED has become a bit lazy!

Getting Herrera a new deal should be our priority!
Otherwise bringing Matic and Pereira into the squad and then losing Herrera is 1 step forward 2 steps back..

I rate Herrera very highly, so much so that I wouldn't trade him for Veratti, Kroos, Modric or Marchisio. Not that those players are not better players but I don't think their impact would be significantly greater than what Herrera was last season. He must be retained at all costs and he can help groom the likes of Perreira and Scott.

Both Mata & Pereira's contract has a one year extension available. Although it's not clear who can trigger it, but yea, they should both get an extension soon

I ll play Devils advocate.
We got a new midfielder and a striker and a center back.
One of the greatest football manegars in history and we are still moaning.
But we don't have A Ronaldo or Messi.
We have a Bially a DeGea a Shaw and Jones.
Herrera Rashford too.
We are in the way up.
