Following Adnan Januzaj’s loan move to Sunderland, David Moyes has revealed he’s told the player he needs to take responsibility for his own career. After two disappointing season, Moyes was Januzaj to rediscover his form from the 2013-14 season and then keep the player a permanent basis. Jose Mourinho has claimed that his plan is for Januzaj to return next season though.
I would like it to turn into a permanent move if possible. Hopefully if he comes and enjoys his football he will see this as the right place to be and the crowd right behind him because he is one who can make a difference. I will need him at different times during the season and if he does too well, Manchester United want him back. This was part of the negotiations of the contract.
I have spoken to the boy and told him you need to stop blaming everybody else and you need to start realising what you are going to do. First of all, he has a really good talent, I have told him to be a team player first and foremost, show your effort for the team and everybody will accept you.
He has talent to take people on, I would say there is a bit of the Chris Waddle about him, because he can slow you down and beat you from a standing start, he has got goals him, he is two footed, so he has an awful lot going for him. But something has gone wrong in the last two years. It is still a little bit of a risk for me, because I am saying I am trusting him to get back to that level. Look if he helps mean I help him, then fine, but he is not guaranteed a place and he will have to work as hard as anyone.
