A beautiful bit of skill against Arsenal saw Nani put United 1-0 up at the Emirates back in January. He left two defenders for dead before lifting the ball over Almunia’s head. The goalie could only palm the ball in to his own net and it was therefore given as an own goal.

His goal was the start of a great day which saw United win 3-1 against Arsenal, in almost a carbon copy performance of the European Cup semi-final thrashing we dished out the season before.

The dubious goals committee have since decided that the goal should go down as Nani’s, taking his total to 7, on top of his 14 assists.

Also, Carrick’s on target effort against Portsmouth which was incorrectly labelled an own goal has also been credited to him, taking his total goals to 5.
