Gary Neville has secured a playing contract with the club next season but you have to wonder how much he has left to give the team, on the pitch at least. Off the pitch, you can imagine Neville sticking around forever, giving the inspiring talks and teaching the young lads what is expected of them at this club.

After living the trophy again, Neville has claimed it is the squad that are to thank for the win, with the concept of a best XI a thing of the past for United.

“The thing about us this season is you can’t name our best side,” said Neville. “It has been about our squad, and everybody has contributed – whether they have played enough games to win a medal or not. Liverpool have finished in title-winning form but we have not panicked, we have fought hard and had to show some guts to win it this time.”

Federico Macheda scored two winning goals for United, earning us six points. John O’Shea has come in at right back, behind the injured Wes Brown, Gary Neville and Rafael in pecking order for much of the season, and done a sterling job particularly towards the end of the season. Which four players from Cristiano Ronaldo, Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Anderson and Park Ji-Sung are the best four? Jonny Evans has played in 31 games for us filling in for the injured/suspended Rio and Vidic.

Whilst debates will always circle over who our best starting team is from which year, there is no denying this is by far the best squad we’ve ever had, with the likes of Berbatov, Scholes, Park and Anderson on the bench for us today.

Well done lads!
