Seeing well-loved former United players return to Old Trafford with their new club is always a nice occasion. We sang for Roy Keane when he returned with Sunderland last season, we’ve sung for Teddy Sherringham when he’s returned with West Ham, we chanted Alan Smith’s name when he came back with Newcastle and the list goes on.
My favourite of all of these though is the simply, yet effective, Nicky Butt chant. It always gets the crowd bouncing.
However, that song now belongs to someone else.
I tried in vain back in July, but our travelling supporters to Portsmouth last week have got the job done. Taken orginally from KC and the Sunshine Band’s Give It Up, Rodrigo officially has a song.
