Manchester United’s confirmation of the squad for pre-season was met with plenty of criticism on social media from supporters. The overall quality of the team is a long way short from a team that could be challenging for the title.
At present, David de Gea is probably the only world class player in the squad and his contract is set to expire next summer, which would be disastrous for the club.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed while in Australia for the pre-season tour that De Gea is still in talks with United to extend his current deal.
David’s had a summer now where he’s been negotiating and thinking about his contract, so we hope that we’re going to get it sorted soon.
Of course, with David, I’ve said many a time how lucky I am, and how happy we are, to have him in the goal. So we hope he stays here for many years.
While his pal Ander Herrera has left for PSG on a free transfer this summer, Juan Mata has signed a new contract, and there are hopes that having his mate around may help convince him to commit to United.
